Today's technology.

29 August 2016 , the teacher stared class by talking about the question that she gave us last week and told us to find the answer.
' What technology do you usually use to learn English? How ?'
The teacher selected someone to talk in class about their answer and let them choose the next person. I was very lucky person as my friend chose me. I told my friends in class that I usually use Instagram because there are many accounts that teach English  such as English_today and  English_for_fun. I have learnt many vocabularies, many idioms and many grammar rules from there so Instagram can help me improve my English skills.
After that, the teacher asked us to write which technology that we use to improve our English skills. I wrote Instagram.

Next, the teacher asked us to do exercises and gave us the corrective feedback when we all had done.
Afterward, the teacher asked us to work in a group of 5 people and summarize the story of this lesson that we had read. She also taught us how to summarize and this was a summary of my group

'     A professor records lectures as podcasts for the university website so students can download the lectures onto their Mp3 players. It helps them to review the lesson. It's good for students that they can use technology to get other news and information not only listen to music and play games.'

after that we had to send representative of each group to present in class. and then we did more exercise and she gave us the corrective feedback when we all finished.
The strategies that I used for reading in this lesson were skimming, scanning ,finding the references and guessing words meaning from the context.

In my opinion, i thought this lesson was pretty difficult as there were many vocabularies that I don't  know the meaning, but i could solve the problem by finding it in the dictionary and asked my friends. I had a lot of fun in class today. Bye. See you next week.

28 August 2016 , the teacher started the class by reviewed vocabularies. After that the teacher asked us to read the news ( Japan earthquakes ) and discussed it with friends. After finished , the teacher let us do exercises and then gave us the corrective feedback when we all had done. Afterward we had to write unfamiliar words and find their meaning. While we were finding, the teacher  suggested us about some websites that could help us improve our English skills.

Next, we started the new story. It was about California Fires. The teacher asked us to read and do all exercises and gave us the corrective feedback  later.

I had learnt many new vocabularies today such as :

Magnitude : The large size or importance of something.

Filipino: A person from the Philippines .

firefighter : A person whose job is to stop fires from burning.

Rugged : (of land) Wild and not even; not easy to travel over.

Reactor : a large machine in which atoms are either divided or joined in order to produce power

Deliberately : Calmly and deliberately, she cut up his suits one by one

The strategies that I used for reading were skimming, finding the references and guessing words meaning from the context.

In my opinion, i thought this lesson was pretty hard and not so interesting, there were many difficult vocabularies that I didn’t know the meaning but I could solved that problem by finding it in dictionary and asking my friends. I had a lot of fun in class.See you next week.

After that the wave came,The waves were getting bigger and bigger. The water could overflew the wall. A lot of water destroyed houses and cares.I think it was a terrible event.'

After finished writing we had to sent the representative of each group to present it and I was the representative of my group.

.A healthy diet ?

http://www.treetopdisplays.co.uk/humans_and_growth.php

1 August 2016, English reading strategies was the first class of this semester. I was very excited because I had heard that the teacher is pretty strict. When we started the class, the teacher introduced herself and gave us the course syllabus to make us know what we have to study, course description, objectives and contents etc.. The teacher also told us about “ class rules” There were 6 rules that we had to deal with.
http://giphy.com/search/follow-the-rule
1. be punctual
2. Pay attention to the lesson
3. Do not use cell phones in the class room
( expect for study purpose)
4. Do not cheat
5. Follow dress code policy
6. Listen while others are speaking or sharing

After finishing introduced this course . The teacher let us discussed about what do we expect that we will learn in this subject . She also told us about Cambridge dictionary online. That was very useful for me because next time if I don’t know the meaning of vocabulary, I can search the meaning of that word and how to pronounce it easier. After that teacher let us brainstormed in topic “what strategies do we use in reading” and we found out 8 strategies that we used in reading the text.
1.Previewing    2.Scanning   3.Skimming  4.Restatement   5.Guessing words meaning from content  6. Finding references   7.Making inferences  8.Predicting

After that we  did exercises. It was about distinguished healthy food and unhealthy food. Next teacher let us read the passage  “ No more junk food” It was about the government in England that realized about the number of overweight children in their country is too much high so they are going to ban junk food  from school cafeterias. I used skimming and scanning strategies to read text. While I was reading I found some difficult vocabularies that I didn’t know the meaning but I could solve that's problem by finding it in dictionary and asking my friends. After that teacher let us did a bit more exercises and one of those exercises was about Present continuous tense. It was easy for me as I ever studied basic grammar in last semester. This lesson was very useful because it made me know which food is healthy food or unhealthy food so I can choose which food is good for my health. Thank you for reading. Bye ! See you again next week. ♥
